We all need support. Well, perhaps there are those who feel they do not but I would venture to say, they are a rare few.
I know that I need support.
I get a lot of support from my students. They keep me on top of my game. They keep me honest and true to my own practice. They appreciate my teachings and the way I support them. I know that if I do not stay connected to my own inner practice, I soon would have little to give to them. This support is invaluable to me.
Sometimes I don’t acknowledge all the support I do have. I am single and live alone and can sometimes get into a pity party for myself. “I have to do it all by myself.” is the song I sing to myself then. Does it help? Nope. Only makes me feel worse:)
If I am deeply honest, I do have a lot of support. I certainly have a great deal of emotional support. Friends or family call me daily to check in with me, “How are you doing today? Just checking in…….” If I need to talk something out with someone or to be affirmed I have several options. I am grateful for that.
Another way that I find support for myself is taking workshops and classes that attract me. It also connects me to other people that are interested in the same kinds of things that inspire me…….nutrition, plant based meals, emotional healing and yoga fill my cup these days.
How do you feel supported? How do you feel you need to be supported?
This week, I want you to think about the support that you do have in your life. Also, look at where you do not feel you have support and would like more. Are there choices you could make that could change that?
It is important to give gratitude to those that support you each day. It can be easy to take for granted those that support you on a daily basis. This week take the opportunity to thank them for not only the large ways in which they support you but also in the small ways.
A blessed week to you……..melaniej

When I read your demographics, single and live alone, I certainly can relate! I also feel an accountability to my clients and friends to walk the walk and talk the talk. I am able to find support through the direct involvement in other communities/groups, even as simple as the neighbor. Certainly your classes and this blog keep me plugged in:) as well as Hope Interfaith Center, various recovery groups, volunterring with nature and people in different diverse situations than my lifestyle. Thank You so much Mel for being real and putting yourself out there:) Namaste
