Some of you may have seen the movie with Jim Carrie called “Yes Man”. In the movie he has been very negative and decides he is going to say “YES” to EVERYTHING that comes along……and so he does! It definitely wakes him up, enlivens him, gets him WAY out of his box and a lot of it pays off. Eventually it gets out of balance and he realizes there are times he does need to say “no”. A good message.
Which side of the coin are you on? Do you feel you say “yes” to often and end up doing things that you do not want to do? Or are you always saying “no” and then find yourself feeling lonely, separate, a bit flat about life.
Here is another way to look at it. Is there someplace that you are saying “no” to life that you could switch it to a “yes”? We say “no” in many ways. Some of it is conscious and some of it is not. If there is something not showing up in your life that you desire, you are saying “no” somewhere in your consciousness……..and the “no” is stronger than the desire!
Maybe you wish you were slimmer. It is a New Years Resolution you have made EVERY year since you can remember but at the end of the year you still carry the extra weight and maybe even more! What is going on? Somewhere there is a deeper need to KEEP the weight on. You can blame your extra weight for wherever you think you are not really succeeding in life. What if you lost the weight and you still did not succeed? Then what could you put the blame on? Safer to stay “stuck” and not have to find out. On some level you are still saying “no” I can’t have what I really want…..the cost would be too high. Of course, this does not need to be the truth. You need to say “yes” to being personally responsible to whatever you need to clear and shift in your life and not make the weight be about anything more than the weight!!
What if you want to make more money, be more financially solvent? But no matter what you do, you do not move forward. What is your attitude towards people who have “made it”? Do you think of them as being hard workers, focused, generous, genius, creative etc? Or do you think of them as selfish, greedy, stepping on anyone who gets in their way? Pretty tough to become something that you detest or feel critical of!
It takes careful thinking to find our way to our deeper thoughts and beliefs.
