The last couple weeks we have been looking at the fears that surface when we think about “moving forward”. In order to move forward, we have to commit to something so today I want us to reflect on “what am I committed to”.
We are all committed to something. It may be mindful and intentional……or it could just be ‘because we have always done it”.
It is easy to see what we are committed to. Just look at your life. Some of what you see you may like and some you may not. If you are committed to good relationships with your friends, family and co workers, then you are mindful of being kind, courteous, clear and honest with them. You take the time that is needed to cultivate and grow these relationships.
If you are committed to vibrant health, you are mindful in what you are putting into your body. You are mindful about the products you purchase to clean your homes and your body. You are mindful of moving your body in the way that feels good to you…….dancing, yoga, hiking, running, biking, walking etc.
If you are committed to growing your career you make sure you are on time. You complete your projects. You are creative and pay attention to what needs to be done when. You attend conferences to sharpen your skills…..
You get the picture.
If you are somewhere in your life that is not to your liking, ask yourself what you are committed to? Maybe you talk about good nutrition, being fit…..yet you still eat your share of fast food and your exercise is very erratic. Are you more committed to short range feel good pleasures then long term goals?
Check your thoughts. Are you committed to telling yourself over and over that you will never have what you truly want or desire?
Check how you sort out things in your life. Are you committed to your own inner reflections and making your choices from there or are you committed to letting other people make decisions for you?
What are you committed to?
As you look over your life, you may find some areas where you are very pleased with what you are committed to and the evidence is showing up that it is working. If you find an area where you are not aligned with what you truly desire, then stop, get clear, make a new intention, make a plan and move forward from there.
Best of luck! Much love! melaniej
