April 10th and I rescheduled a class so students didn’t have to drive in on icy roads………”The Winter That Would Not Let Go” . We want Spring! We want sunshine! We want warm weather!!
But what we have is this……..”The Winter That Will Not Let Go”.
We can tell ourselves all kinds of stories around it. How miserable it is. How “unseasonable” it is. How……..But this is what we have.
Sometimes we feel this way about our lives as well. The difficult things that we experienced in a past time cycle around and we feel in the grip of the sorrow. guilt, anger or regret and we can feel that we will never get beyond it. That here we are again. “The Winter That Will Not Let Go”. The winter of our Soul’s suffering.
It is such a painful place to be. And even if you have done a lot of emotional work you can still cycle into those pockets of pain as another one reveals itself to be released.
And when you are there it feels as though NOTHING has changed. That nothing you have ever done or will do will make a difference. That what is the point?
Then what is the point?
The point is to get back up again. Strength does not come from the falling down but the getting back up.
We all have read stories and are deeply inspired by those who have done just that. Get up. Again and again and again. As many times as it takes.
We don’t have to get up right away. We can stay down as long as we like or feel we need to. We can lick our wounds or tell ourselves how miserable our life is. We can cry and gnash our teeth…….and then we have a choice. We can get back up or we can stay down. We can choose to stay in “”The Winter That Would Not Let Go” or we can find our own internal spring.
I am not saying it is easy. No one has ever said it is easy. But I do believe and my experience has been that over time it does get easier.
But even if it does not, the strength comes from the getting up. Be Inspired!!
I attached a video that will have you weeping…………this guy chose to get up and find his own Spring.
My love and compassion for you and your journey, melaniej
