Last week I talked about “connection”. Our yearning for it and how we can bring more of that into our lives.
This weekend I had the pleasure of working on my Ashtanga yoga practice with Tim Feldman. This is the 3rd time I have studied with Tim and I have witnessed his “purity of presence”. Tim displays a clear, calm, loving presence. In a room of 20+ students we all received ample attention and direction from this master teacher. When Tim is working with you, you will receive 100% of his focus and attention. His attention does not move off of you until he moves on to the next student where he will then place 100% of his focus and attention.
This is a gift and an opportunity for a practice. It is a gift to be in the presence of someone who can presence you so profoundly. It is an opportunity for practice each and every day to be a clear presence for ourselves and others.
This is a beautiful example of someone who has cultivated and lived a strong spiritual practice for many years.
Let this week be a “practice of presence” for you. How present can you be in your daily life? Notice how you feel when someone is very present to you. Notice how you feel when someone is not able to be present to you. As we develop the ability to be more deeply present in our life, we will cultivate more connection.
It is a simple concept-let yourself deepen into the practice.
Let me know how it goes for you! Many blessings, Melanie
