This morning I posted this on my Facebook page:
I believe in love every day……….sharing from Rumi, my favorite Love Poet
“The minute I heard my first love story,
I started looking for you, not knowing
how blind that was.
Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere,
they’re in each other all along.”
From Essential Rumi
by Coleman Barks
I love this. I love, love how Rumi speaks of love. He was able to find words that elicit the sublime feeling that we yearn for and feel when we love in this way
“Love is in the air” and it IS today! I can feel it! Just like I feel it at Christmas.
What is that? It is our hearts, wide open. It is our voices and words expressing what we feel for those that we love and care for. It is an energy that ripples out and envelops all of us…………how lovely.
If you choose, you can take on “The Practice of Love.”
What would that look like for you? How would you move through the day if your practice was to open your heart and share love? How would that impact your world and your health? How would it change your perspective if your focus was more on connection and less on protection?
Mother Teresa once said that our country may be wealthy with money but we were starved of love.
Can we ever feel too much gratitude or appreciation or love?
We can certainly feel uncomfortable if someone opens up and really shares authentic love with us. We are not used to it. Our ability to contain that much love has not been developed.
Perhaps on this Valentine’s Day of 2013, you can be inspired beyond the hearts and the chocolates of this one day and take this practice on for the rest of the year.
What could transpire? What connections would be made? What would happen if you focused on gratitude and love more than what you have decided are your issues for the day?
I am VERY blessed and feel deeply loved by my family, my friends and my students. It’s amazing and I am grateful. I hope to brighten the world each day in sharing the love within my own heart with those around me and when I do it returns to me 10 fold.
I created a meditation called “Learning the Language of the Heart”. If you are interested in working to develop the qualities of the heart, this will be helpful.

So, Happy Love Day! May your hearts be warmed by the love that you share with your self and your world………….Namaste, melaniej
