The focus of the last week class in the “Yamas and Niyamas” was the idea of surrender. I have been thinking about this idea or “practice” for a long time.
There is this thought that if I “let go” and surrender that will mean that I am giving up or giving in. Or that if I “let go” my dream will never come true.
This idea of surrender within the Niyamas is aligned with TRUST. In developing this trust I can “let go” of worry, urgency, fear and anxiety. I can trust the goodness of Life. I can begin to relax and know that everything that comes my way will have gifts to bear……….even the difficult times of my life.
What if I can surrender to the idea that EVERYTHING that is right now is EXACTLY as it should be?
What if you could surrender to that idea? What if there is only this shift of perspective that could bring me peace and joy?
If you could accept this premise, how would you do your life differently? What would you stop complaining about? What new choices would you make in your life?
Try this on for size this week.
Find one area that you have been resisting, fighting or arguing with in your life.
And drop it.
Just like that.
Surrender to the perfection that it possibly holds within its core.
Notice how your body relaxes and the space that opens up inside of you.
Surrender, sweet, sweet surrender………….Sweet Sweet Surrender/Jeff Beck
