I like to start my blogs on Tuesday or Wednesday and then just take another quick look at them on Thursday before I send it off. This week that did not happen for some reason. I have been enjoying the gorgeous outdoor weather so did not want to write a blog today. I thought, “I will just look to see what I wrote last fall and maybe I will resend that blog.” What I found was this darling photo of Lizzie with no text and thought “this is just too cute to not put words to!!”
So what is there to say about this small little animal that is “more human than dog”? She wins everyone’s hearts. She is the sweetest little companion. At times she trembles in fear of her younger cat sister, Bella, and at other times ferociously chases Bella out of the room. She trots along dutifully with me on our forays around the neighborhood sin leash (much to the chagrin of many). She stops people in their cars to say “Oh, my! That is the smallest dog I have ever seen!”
When people see her from a distance trotting happily along with me, they don’t know what it can be!
This photo was taken in Lafayette, Indiana when I was out to visit Geordie and Mandy a few years ago. She is also a great travel partner. She loves to just snuggle in for the ride be it long or short. She just loves to be with me and to enamor any she meets.
She really is something.
She is a love dog. People see her. They smile. They encourage others they are with to look at this little bit of a dog and they feel happy. I can see it in their faces and in their eyes. I know that they go home and share this story at the dinner table. “I was driving along down by Tourtellotte and I saw the smallest dog imaginable!”
Lizzie was a gift from several of my friends 7 years ago. I had voiced the possibility of getting a dog and had recently had encounters with 3 chihuahuas which was a bit odd. I had never even met a chihuahua before. That made me think that maybe a chihuahua was on its way to me! When I shared this with friends they decided to surprise me with this sweet little darling for my birthday! I actually received a box of puppy food and her photo and received her 2 weeks later. Tiny little love.
Her latest conquest is my niece’s daughter Sidney. Sidney lives in Switzerland and “Face times” me most days to see her love, Lizzie. On her visit this summer, Lizzie dutifully tolerated 2 visits from Sidney……..Sidney is 4 years old, need I say more?’
I notice that when I move from a home I have had for many years, that I seldom have any photos of the “every day life” that I am involved in most of the time. Consider this brief note that. A little bit of my every day life. My life with a 2.9 pound chihuahua.
Lizzie loves that she is the main topic for this week………..she awaits me.
