Do you love your body? Do you LIKE your body? Do you respect your body? Do you take great care of your body? Do you listen to your body?
These are very important questions if we care about the health of our body.
If we take great care of our bodies, our bodies will take great care of us.
I have realized over the years that “I” am not my body. However, my body is extremely important to me on this earth plane. I have learned that my body is the great messenger for me. My body will tell me very quickly if I am not feeding it well. My body will tell me quickly if I am not resting or relaxing enough. My body will tell me if I am hanging onto emotions that need to be expressed or moved through.
I have become very attuned to my body because of a past illness. That was one of the many gifts my illness gave to me.
We tend to take our bodies for granted. We just think that they are “there” and should function beautifully with no or little regard with how we treat them or what we put into them or do not put into them. When we are young the body will tolerate a great deal of abuse. Young people can seemingly tolerate a lot of junk food……our organs can metabolize and digest better at a younger age as they have not become congested from years of poor or compromised eating. With the easy access to junk food, not only for a snack but for meals, the health of our youth IS being compromised. Heart attacks, cancer, epilepsy, diabetes even strokes are showing up at younger ages. And then there is the plethora of ADH and ADHD…….
Our bodies truly are miraculous and they are constantly doing the best that they can do with the raw materials that we provide them. If a home is build with poor quality materials we know that it will not stand long or well. It is no different for our bodies.
The sad thing is is that poor eating is SO accepted and such a reality that we do not even realize how often we make those choices.
Chinese medicine believes that food is our medicine. Is that how you are eating? Is that how you are choosing your food?
Here are 2 simple questions to ask when choosing a food: “is this food going to clog or cleanse me?” “is this food going to help heal and promote my health or is this food going to rob me of valuable nutrients”.
The body is amazing. I have read that if you have great health you can probably follow the 80/20 rule. Eat extremely well 80% of the time and your body will deal with lower quality nutrition the other 20% of the time. If you are not experiencing the level of health you desire you may have to to close that gap even more.
This is not about taking the JOY you receive from eating. In fact, I also believe that if it is probably better to JOYFULLY eat something of lesser nutritional value than to eat a very healthy meal feeling tight, worried and constricted.
This is all a part of living mindfully, consciously.
The food we take in is one piece. Our thoughts, beliefs, emotions also affect our bodies in a huge way. Exercise affects our bodies. Let’s begin by upleveling how we nourish our bodies with the food and drink that we provide it.
So, see if you can make some higher choices around your food this week. Once you make the choices, relax and ENJOY the wonderful textures, tastes, aromas and health benefits you are providing your body. Let me know how you feel after just really working with this for THREE days. You will feel lighter and more radiant.
If you take great care of your body, your body will take great care of you!
Great blessings! Slow down, prepare some lovely food, feel your gratitude for your body and your food and ENJOY! Melanie
