Hi everyone! After finding that picture of Frodo and Sam for the blog last week, I decided that I needed to rewatch the 3 movies of “The Lord of the Ring”. So I had a GREAT time Friday, Saturday , Sunday seeing them once again. The battle scenes get too long for me but there is so much good stuff it is worth the watch.
Here are these two small hobbits, Frodo and Sam, setting out on a mission that can save Middle Earth……completely into the unknown, facing a powerful dark force that is growing in numbers by the day.
There is a scene where Frodo is just really coming undone because of the journey but also because of the burden of the ring. They have been lost. They do not REALLY know the way. Frodo is so overwhelmed and just does not know what to do or how to do it. Sam, blessed friend, says to Frodo, “well, Mr. Frodo, how about if we just start with walking down this one hill.”
Such a simple statement. Such a poignant, powerful statement. The power of the present moment. Confusion? Overwhelm? What is RIGHT in front of me? What is the most obvious thing that I CAN do right now? Maybe all we can do in that moment of fatigue and confusion is to “walk down this hill”. At the bottom, maybe something else will be revealed to us.
Life is really about that. Putting one foot in front of the other. The adventure of our life. We do not REALLY know where “putting one foot in front of the other” will lead us each day. ESPECIALLY if we keep our hearts open to life. But that is what we do. And if we do it mindfully, with our eyes and hearts wide open, we WILL find our way.
Many blessings on your own hero’s journey:)
