Less is more. Less helps me to stay grounded each day. Less means I have more time to really deepen into and connect with what is the most important to me. Running through life, being over busy does not suit me. I don’t like the feeling that I am skimming over things and I begin to feel very ungrounded. That does not feel good in my body, mind nor spirit.
I choose to make decisions that keep my life moving at the pace that feels good to me. My body will quickly tell me if I am putting too much on my plate.
What our lives look like and what feels good changes over the years.
We seem to be living in a world where there is so much “busy” and as a result so much “overwhelm”.
Why do we think we need to be so busy? Why do we pack our days? Why do we pack our children’s days? What drives those decisions?
There is always a balance that feels best. In yoga we will come to standing in tadasana, two feet planted side by side, hip distance apart. We ask the students to come forward onto the balls of their feet and feel the “hanging on” that comes into their bodies. We then ask them to lean backwards onto their heels and they will have a different experience of being “off kilter” at that angle. We then ask them to rock back and forth a bit and find the center. There is a sense of ease that comes into the body and the face as they settle into this.
That is what we are seeking in our every day lives.
Here is another example. We have all experienced the different “moods” of a stream or river. When the water is at a “normal” level, it flows at a certain speed that feels comfortable. It feels like it is gently playing and dancing. A rush of stream here, a slowing down there. It is relaxing and comforting to sit by a stream/river that is moving this way.
When there is flooding, there is an entirely different feel. The water rushes and tumbles and surges. We can feel the turbulence, the “danger” of water flowing at this speed. It is exhilarating perhaps but certainly not relaxing. If we were on this water in a kayak or canoe we would have to be very alert in every moment. It would take all our senses to stay afloat. That can be highly exhilarating of course! But how long could we keep that up?
When are you in that place of balance and when do you begin to head to the “danger” zone? You know. You feel it in your body. You feel it in your mind and spirit. The moving into greater movement can be a part of the balance. It can shake off our stagnation. It can energize and enliven us. And as we listen to our inner signals we will be able to feel where that balance is.
Sometimes life will call on us to step into the faster moving stream for abit but if that is needed then we need to look at the other side to create the time to rest and recoup……..and then get into our natural flow once again.
We each have our own individual flow. Some people are comfortable and able to hold their center with a great deal going on. Others of us need a slower pace or we get scattered and ungrounded. Others are in the center some where.
Each of us is responsible to take care of our own energy fields, our own flows.
Where do you see yourself in all this? I know that I need more time and space for quiet and ease than I did in different chapters of my life. I need to construct my days to allow for the intensity of working with students/clients and I need time to fill myself back up. Then I am happy and my energy stays balanced.

Finding our own flow is vital for maintaining vibrant health. There is a balance the body needs. Our bodies are highly adaptable and can tolerate a great deal of our being unaware. But at some point they will speak back. This may be in the form of a cold, a sprained ankle, etc. SLOW down and get some rest and TLC!
