I have been doing some very deep resting lately……….for the last two weeks in fact. My body gave me a very clear message that I was to stop. Not just slow down but literally stop.
I didn’t have a choice. I knew very clearly if I did not stop, I would get very sick.
My body is very wise. My body did not give out on me. My body is not punishing me. My body is trying to steer me towards greater health. I need to back up to go forward.
I have my own ways of how my body speaks to me. You have yours. Do you pay attention? Do you back off when you start to feel ‘off”? Do you allow yourself times of deep rest when you need it? Or do you just keep pushing?
People are tired. I hear people saying all the time, “I just feel exhausted”. This is a fast paced world that we live in and sometimes we just have to step off the merry go round and stop.
You may not need the kind of deep rest and solitude that I have needed. You might just need one day or a weekend………but can you give it to yourself? It is not easy to ask others to cover for us or to cancel clients. But when our bodies are speaking to us, we need to pay attention.
Tune in. Sometimes, often times we do not even know how tired we are until we allow ourselves to stop and rest. I found the more I rested, the more I realized the depth of my own exhaustion.
I am coming out of it, slowly but surely. I will continue to rest deeply, nourish my body well and to stay aware of the lessons of this experience.
Pay attention to the signs your own body is giving you and please listen. Here’s to vitality………..much love, melaniej
