An early “Happy 4th of July” to each of you! I hope that it will be a day of connection and celebration of the many freedoms that you enjoy in your life.
We celebrate the 4th of July to celebrate the independence of our country. Freedom as a sovereign nation. The freedom to govern ourselves in a country that would become known as the United States of America. It was a freedom that our ancestors fought bravely to attain.
In an evolutionary world, people generally move to a place where they desire more freedom. Freedom in their government, freedom in their personal lives.
We seem to be wired from the beginning to move towards greater and greater freedom. We are born completely helpless. If someone else did not care for us, we would not survive. As the days turn into weeks, our necks strengthen and we gain a freedom to hold ourselves up by ourselves. That evolves into crawling, then walking along holding onto whatever is available and finally walking and then running! Such freedom from the few months prior when we could not even hold our own heads up! It is a GREAT freedom to be able to move around easily on our own two feet and legs. If you have ever spent time on crutches or a wheelchair, you will treasure this freedom.
I have an exercise that I use when I work with people on their intentions, dreams, or desires. We go “inside” and ask “what would it FEEL like if this desire came true?” It could be an intention of losing weight, having more income, being in a relationship, knowing what our purpose is……Just about EVERY person will say, “I would feel FREER”. I ask “what does ‘Free’ FEEL like?” People will say, “open, spacious, light”.
I find it interesting that almost everyone gets to the same place. We want to feel free. Free in our lives as we walk the streets, free in our bodies, free in our relationships, free in our workplace, free in our careers. We feel more energized, creative and alive when we feel free. We yearn for freedom. Many men and women have died to “fight for freedom”.
Where do you feel free in your life? Where do you NOT feel free in your life? Do you have the courage to find the voice and the actions it will take to move you into a greater place of freedom?
We are blessed to live in a country where we experience so many levels of freedom. Take a look at your personal life and see where you need to “free” yourself.
Happy 4th of July! Blessings and love, Melanie
