We have a lot of confusion going around about our bodies. We have made them the enemy. In truth, they are the messenger. Our bodies get our attention. We can push down and ignore our feelings, an unhealthy relationship, our passion, our secret dreams and wishes………..but it is very difficult to ignore our bodies. Pain gets our attention. Again, we can find ways to suppress our emotional pain (meds, alcohol, drugs, busyness, etc) but more difficult to suppress our physical pain.
Our bodies are trying to get us to look honestly at our lives. Am I living an authentic life? Am I being true to myself? Am I expressing my own unique truth? Am I growing and evolving? Am I sharing my true gifts and talents with the world? Where am I settling? These questions take us deep into our own spiritual journey……….and it takes courage to hear and live the truth.
I don’t want to paint this picture that this is black and white and simplistic but I do believe it may be simpler than we have made it.
I believe the saying that goes something like this, “At first our soul tries to get our attention with a feather like stroke, if we do not get that, there is more of a tap. If we don’t get that, we will be given a shove and then finally something that REALLY gets our attention.”
We are masters of not paying attention.
We want our lives to change for the better but WE don’t want to have to change anything. Unfortunately, it does not work that way. Our bodies ALWAYS speak the truth! They do not lie.
You probably know someone who has said, “The cancer/heart attack/accident was the best thing that ever happened to me because I WOKE up to see what was truly of value to me and it changed my life FOR THE BETTER!”
There are gifts to be found in the difficult if we have the courage to keep our hearts and minds open.
There is much that can be said about all of this but these are short blogs to just get you thinking.
Our bodies are symbolic. If you have alot of problems with your throat you would ask yourself, “what do I need to express.” If you have heart issues you may look at your “heart connections” in life……….
Please do not think that medicating, cutting or radiating is ever going to get to the ROOT of what has caused the imbalance in the first place. There may be times when these procedures can be helpful but that is just the START of the journey NOT the end.
Take time for yourself. Every day if possible. Sit with yourself. Sit with your feelings. Sit with your dreams and your desires. Sit with the reality of your life and feel into it. What feels authentic? Where are you hiding? Where are you settling? Where does it feel wonderful?
You deserve this time to value and get to know yourself. Your body will respond to this just as much as it responds to good food, exercise and quality rest.
Our bodies are amazing and loving. They tolerate a GREAT deal of imbalanced living before they really rear back and say ENOUGH!! They are our greatest friends and allies.
Much love, Melanie

Good words!
I just visited last week with a woman going through radiation for breast cancer. Her husband said to her, “How can I fight with you? You have cancer.” (We discussed this, and realized that what he was really saying is: I now see how life is too precious for us to waste time fighting.)
Our bodies want to flow with us, gently, and silently, but they speak when they must.
