I started a blog yesterday that I have decided to save for the moment in lieu of what I want to share with you.
Life changes moment by moment. We do not know what any day will bring to us and it is SO easy to be laissez faire about our life. It is so easy to forget about the preciousness of life as we get bogged down by the complexities of life.
Some of you may know who David Simon is. He is the partner of Deepak Chopra. I believe that he and Deepak created the Chopra Center together. I have had the pleasure of taking two workshops with this warm, sensitive, poetic, highly evolved man. I received the message through their e-mails last week that he had a malignant brain tumor. It was difficult to even take it in for a bit. I sometimes forget that we humans are mortal in this paradigm and that even someone as developed and evolved as David Simon can be subject to human drama.
My husband used to say to me “A crisis does not make a man but reveals a man.” Of course, I was not present when David found out what he was facing but the words that he has shared with his reading audience are profound and inspiring.
He has now had the surgery which went well and is planning on moving back into his work at the Chopra Center in a few weeks. What I wanted to share with you is the following taken from a longer e-mail he sent out to his students and friends:
“I encourage you to share this reminder of the beautiful delicacy of life with me. Take a few minutes today to feel the sun on your face, wiggle your toes in the grass or inhale the fragrance of a summer flower. Tell someone in your life that you love them unconditionally. Take a few moments to do something creative that brings you a wave of joy. Prepare yourself a delicious colorful meal, and savor it. Struggle less today and celebrate more.”
Yes, too easy to take our lives and those we love for granted. So take some time after reading this to call someone, write someone a note, go take a walk, do something to really breathe in the fullness and deliciousness of this precious life. Too often we go on auto pilot……
That is all for tonight. The weather is FABULOUS! There is going to be outside music from 1:00-9:00 on Saturday at the new Riverfront Park here in Mankato. What is better than music outdoors???
Big love to each of you…….melanie
