Finding our own pure essence……..

…..sounds beautiful, doesn’t it?  Growing into our Higher Selves.  Expanding beyond who we currently know ourselves to be.  Evolving our souls.  Learning our Soul Lessons.  Tapping into the deepest parts of ourselves to live honestly and authentically.  Finding our own voice, our own creative expression……

It is exciting to think about living our lives from this place of wisdom, clarity, clear vision, connectedness, and pure joy and love.

The path to get there is usually not straightforward nor covered with rose petals.  Oh, how we wish that it was!!  How I wish that it were!  The path twists and turns taking us down into the deep valleys and up to the highest peaks and into scary caves and behind beautiful water falls and on and on.  It is the adventure of the life time.  At least it has been for me.

Why would we want to undertake an adventure that tells us “HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS!!”??  Becuase we feel the urging and calling from within ourselves for something more.  The life that may have felt comfortable for quite a while has suddenly started to not feel so comfortable any more.  It is like growing out of a favorite pair of shoes…….and that can even happen as an adult:)

It is our soul awakening, stretching….EXPANDING or WANTING to expand……and it cannot happen in our current life.  Our current life only allows us to express a certain amount of our soul’s expression.    Ouch.  Sometimes it HURTS to expand like that.  Sometimes we leave people and place and jobs behind when we stretch and expand like that.  It is truly like growing pains because that is what we are doing.

And the kicker??  We do not have a secure promise of what the future will hold for us.  We are asked to let go of what ever we have been holding on to and we WANT so badly to be able to touch and hold what the future will bring to us………but we can’t until we COMPLETELY let go of the past piece.  We have to STAND up.   Alone.  If we grasp too quickly forward, we will not truly have found our balance.  We have to stand up.  Alone.

The greater truth,however, is that we are NEVER truly alone.  So many stand in support of us both on the earthly plane and on the spirit plane.  APPLAUDING our efforts, cheering us on with so much love.  “You can do it!”  they are shouting.  “We see your potential.  We see your amazing light and the gifts that you have to share with the world.  We see the amazing love that you have to share.  You can DO this!   Stay connected to your heart and believe in yourself and in your dreams!”

NOT following these urges from deep inside is so uncomfortable and painful.  We may be able to do it for awhile.  We may be able to drown them out with tv and food and alcohol and sex and exercise and drugs and time with people and and and……..but the moment we are alone, they RUSH in.  They will not be denied.

And they come bearing great tidings of great joy and greater expression and deeper living.  I have not read “Eat, Pray, Love”  but I think that this book speaks to all of this.

When we finally begin to listen to these inner urges, does it mean that all will be smooth sailing and easy??   At times.  Until we run into our fears and our limiting beliefs.  Then the red flag comes up and we want to run back to our old lives……well, kinda.  That doesn’t feel right anymore either.  What to do……..we take a breath, maybe distract ourselves for a few hours or days and then we peak out again from under our rock or wherever we have taken refuge.

It’s ok.  We are on the adventure of a lifetime that will last a lifetime.  We can take our time some days and we can fly on others.
