Already January 10th and the days ARE getting longer! I must say that I enjoy the nestling in of our colder months.
I have been thinking about where I place my attention when I am having a challenge in my life or I have a goal that I have not reached yet.
I have written about this before but if you are like me, you need reminders.
More often than not, our minds will lean towards the problem.,…………..not the solution or the plan that can lead us to a solution.
The chatter in our minds will keep reminding us of the one thing we failed to do rather than all that we did very well.
I don’t know why our minds are like this but it seems most people have to train themselves to do the opposite.
It tends to feel normal and natural to run the negative stories……….we believe them with all our hearts. We feel uncomfortable thinking about how we would like it to be because we might be disappointed. Better to think the worst so we won’t be disappointed!!
This week notice as quickly as you can when you are focusing on a problem and shift as quickly as possible towards a solution.
For example, you are worried about your health or frustrated with your current level of fitness or body image. You notice that you are in a negative frame of mind. As quickly as you can, begin to think about your wellness or fitness plan. What are doing that supports health and wellness? Put all your attention on what you know you can do at the moment and let the rest go. It will help tremendously to shift you into a better feeling place. It is difficult to focus on all the things we are doing to build health and focus on what is not working at the same time. Use this to your advantage!
What if you are worried about money? Has worrying about money EVER brought more money in? I doubt it. Shift into thinking about all the blessings that you currently have. Shift into focusing on the abundance that you nave right NOW. Shift into possibility thinking around your current job or a job you are interested in having.
It does us nor anyone else to be focused on the negative. It is OK to notice and then USE it to shift into a place of greater power and possibility. AND it feels so much better.
As with all skills, they take time to develop. It is a mental mind game to build positive thinking mind muscles.
Just start noticing where your thoughts are at and then begin to shift. You might have to do it dozens of times at first but slowly you will notice a shift.
