Let’s use the metaphor of the horses in the corral a bit more:
Relax, and let yourself imagine these beautiful, powerful creatures just milling around the corral or even better in a pasture. They are grazing on fresh grass, rolling on their backs and quietly standing and dozing. Ahhhh. Peaceful. Imagine that and feel it in your body. Take a bit of time. Perhaps imagine YOU are one of the horses grazing and feeling so content.
Suddenly you feel a stir in the energy and you see/feel one of the horses quickly raise its head with ears pricked forward and it begins to stir with some fear or agitation. The horses near this one begin to do the same you watch as it spreads through the whole herd. The whole herd is agitated even though only the one horse had picked something up. Ears pricked, looking watching for the danger. Whinnying. Where is the perceived threat?
This is like the thoughts in your mind. Remember a time when you were somewhere enjoying yourself and someone says something and you feel your ears perk up and immediately go ‘on alert’. It can go a couple ways from here. Perhaps this person or another says something else and you feel ‘oh, that was nothing’ and can calm down again (although maybe now you are more on alert) or your mind (your horses) begin to gather momentum. One thought agitating the next thought and the next until you have a stampede going. By then it is too late and you have to let the horses run until they feel safe enough to calm down.
Exhausting. When you examine the whole thing later, you realize there was no real threat. Only a perceived one. What a waste of time and energy and now recovery time needed.
We have these old perceived threats in our consciousness. Perhaps they were true at one point in your life. But they are no longer true. Does it serve you to continue to be on guard for them now? Probably not. There may be actual events that need us to be on guard. Let’s save our energy for those moments.
We continue to uncover what these perceived threats and fears are in our DP. Our minds truly can run wild and take us on such fear based escapes. For no true reason in the present.
Best take away of this week’s exploration? PLEASE comment everyone so we know where to continue next week.
