Does this sound familiar? Are you aware that you do it? Most of us are going to do this some of the time. But if it is your MAIN way of connecting you might want to upgrade.
We are usually looking for ways to connect with others. It is natural. If you like complaining and you enjoy the company of complainers, keep complaining! It will work for you:)
If, however, you are craving deeper connection, more intimacy, more inspiration in your life, notice what you are talking about. If you are consistently talking about what is NOT going right in your life you will have a certain kind of connection. It is like the person who drinks. If they become serious about not drinking, they need to choose new company. We like to be with people who act and believe in ways that are similar to how we act and believe. That is just human nature.
Think about what you want more of in your life and begin talking about that. That will draw in others who are like-minded. If you have creative ideas that you have shelved, begin talking about them. If you find your friends are not supportive of your growth you may need to look outside that circle and cultivate new friendships.
Great minds talk about ideas.
Average minds talk about events.
Small minds talk about people.
