Wow……THIS is the weather we in MN wait for!!! If only we could bottle it up. No bugs, low humidity, cool at night, sunny and gorgeous blue skies during the day…………..keep it coming!
As a yogi and an energy practitioner, I have become ever more aware of living consciously. I practice turning my gaze in towards my own life daily, my own thoughts, patterns, actions, etc. I frequently question where my energy and attention is going and perhaps an even bigger question, why is it going that direction. What drives that thought pattern or action? Does it continue to take me forward into the life that I desire and a life that gives back? Or does it keep me stuck and cycling in old patterns that do not serve me nor anyone else.
Paying attention to what we do in a day, a week, or a month is one thing. Going underneath the REASON for it is another. We have better success in a real shift when we can understand the deeper driving force.
As always, many of the things that we do, ARE positive and life giving. It is good to see those aspects of our lives and spend even more time doing, being, thinking in those ways……….tending to our homes, our bodies, our minds, our spirits, our friendships, our relationships, our work.
What do we do that puts us into the “red” so to speak and we end up having to dig ourselves out? We lose time, focus and energy from where we REALLY want to be. Perhaps your desire is to develop a higher level of wellness. You think about how you are going to feel with more energy, less sick days, etc. As you take a conscious scan of your life on a daily or even weekly basis, you may look back and in honesty notice how many days you chose fast food, excess alcohol, found some excuse to not move your body with exercise and so on. Our minds are clever and we can have blinders on with what we say we want and then what we are really doing. Patterns run deep and strong and without conscious decison making, the patterns continue to run.
It helps to know WHY you want to move your direction in a certain direction. And also to do some detective work around WHY you continue to make poor choices, if you do.
It is good to develop a daily practice in doing this conscious scan. Where did I spend my time, energy, thoughts, yesterday. Where do I want to spend them today? Am I consistently moving myself in the direction I say that I want to go? If not, why?
This is an important practice in creating a life that feels satisfying and fulfilling. When we tend to ourselves, homes, finances, relationships, etc. it FEELS good! The smallest things can really fill our bucket. It is time that we let go of self-punishing practices……overeating, poor eating choices, excess drinking, empty shopping, negative self talk……..you know your own favorite brand of poison! And you are the one that make a new choice.
This is a process. This is a practice. The first step is to sit down and decide what it is that you DO want to move towards in your life. Then it is looking at where you put your time, energy and focus. Is it taking you towards that which you say you want or away from it? Begin making new choices from that place.
