Do you have an area (or areas) in your life that you feel like you struggle in? Do you often use this word? It would sound something like this. “Gosh, I am really struggling at work these days.” Or, “I am really struggling with my weight….or relationship…or self confidence”…etc.
I don’t know if I use the word out loud a lot but I certainly do feel it internally. The other morning during my Daily Practice I was doing some writing or tapping (EFT) and those words came out. I started to think about the beliefs and the energy that goes into feeling like life, or any part of life is “a struggle”. Just saying something is a struggle, I can feel my energy drop, my resistance come up. It feels “hard”.
Bryon Katie teaches us to drop the resistance. To accept what is. She says that when we struggle against something that is we will lose…….but only 100% of the time.
So I wrote on my paper, “2015…the year to release struggle.”
I liked the way that it felt. I felt some tension being released from my body by just claiming that. Life is going to continue to happen but what if I could choose to be with it rather than fight it?
Students will argue with B Katie and say, “Yes, but if I just accept what is nothing will ever change.” Her reply? “Nothing will ever truly change until you do accept what is.”
And so what if this is the truth? And since I know that dropping the idea of ‘struggle’ feels better………why not travel that path?
I have been working with this the last few days. When something comes up that my mind/ego wants to rise up and claim as ‘a struggle’, I relax around it. I let my mind stay soft. I allow the story to fall away that would support the ‘struggle’.
It certainly feels like a lighter way to move through the world. I am going to continue this practice………because I don’t want to struggle anymore. I don’t want to feel like I am fighting anywhere in my life.
So now these are just words you are reading unless you decide to explore this idea with me. We never know what we will uncover in any of these practices. We are just trying to experience life from different perspectives. If you are happy about the way things feel in your life good for you! If any of these ideas that I present, resonate with you than join me.
Much love to each of you! melaniej
