We have been working with the energy of the 2nd chakra this week in my 7 week chakra class. There is information about each of the chakra’s that we work with but the information is important in that it leads us to the energy and the experience that we seek.
The 2nd chakra lies in the pelvic area…….it has to do with sensuality, sexuality, pleasure and balancing masculine/feminine energy within ourselves and in our lives. The “mantra” we focus on here is the word “flow” as it is associated with the element of water.
We are a “doing” people, a “doing” society. We get so many kudos for “doing”, for “achieving” even for “having”. The ego and the outer world is alot about “doing”.
Doing is a masculine quality. It is important to do. It is important to get the job done and to do a good job. It feels good to accomplish something, to put our attention on a project and see it through to completion. Doing is important.
But that is half the equation. We know that when we do too much we get exhausted. We get resentful. We get burnt out. We need to flip to the other half…….where do we open to receive pleasure? Where do we allow ourselves to just be? Where do we receive the softness and sweetness of life? Can we allow ourselves to experience pleasure or do we believe that we only have worth by doing?
Being is a whole different energy. Being is the feminine side of the coin. We are quiet and listen to our intuition. We allow ourselves to soften into who we are. We can choose to be receptive, loving, sensual, soft, open, in our hearts, feeling, expressing, exploring. Being is more about being in the process, doing is about outcome……….both necessary.
Being allows others to give to us. We open to receive. We do not always need to be the ones that are pushing and making things happen. Sometimes the best way to “make” something happen is to do nothing. To lean back and allow it to come to you. A thought, an idea, an inspiration, a job offer, a relationship, an experience.
If you feel you have been doing for too long, pushing too hard……..stop. Take a deep breath, relax. Let your body relax and soften. Let your mind open to possibility and wonder. Let your heart open and soften. Take another deep breath. Just drop your concern into this energy and then let it go. Bring your attention back to yourself. Back to your own heartbeat, your own breath and body. Something will bubble up. Something will show up. Something will emerge.
If you feel you have been efforting too much, try this approach this week. See how it feels. See how things shift in your life. And let me know! Blessings, Melanie
